The Wonder of India - ELLORA CAVES
A visit to Ellora Caves
the fascinating sculpture out of a single stone.
I was even more amazed when I came to know that it was just carved out of a single rock in Charanandri Hills. it is a rock-cut cave dating from the period 600-1000 CE. All those monuments were built during the Rashtrakuta dynasty. There are over 100 caves at the site, indeed I have not visited them all but came to know from some locals that each group of caves represents deities and mythologies prevalent in the 1st millennium CE, as well as monasteries of each respective religion. They were built close to one another and illustrate the religious harmony that existed in ancient India.
Although the caves served as temples and a rest stop for pilgrims as there is a really beautiful Kailasa temple, many of you might have heard that the site's location on an ancient South Asian trade route also made it an important commercial center in the Deccan region. Ellora, also called Verul or Elura, is the short form of the ancient name Elloorpuram, which mentions "the greatness of this edifice". The carving of the caves has the styles of Hindu, Buddhist, and Jain caves. You will find the Hindu monuments from caves 13-29, the most beautiful among those is the Dhumar lena (cave 29). The given below is Cave 29,
When we go to the site the main sculpture we see is the cave 16 . i.e. Kailasa temple, is a particularly notable cave temple in India as a result of its size, architecture, and having been entirely carved out of a single rock. inspired by Mount Kailasha, is dedicated to Shiva.
you would find more such Hindu-styled caves like the Rameshwar temple cave 21, The Dashavtara cave 15, etc. The Buddhist monuments are from caves 1-12. while the Jain monuments are from caves 30-34.
even a whole day is not enough to visit all of those caves, with all of the best architecture there. Just imagine how would have those people at that time must have carved all these beautiful sculptures for us, and given us this amazing gift. At that time I didn't had any the social accounts and did not even had any idea to share my experience in the future and thus I had not much good snapshots to show you all, but im sure I'll be visiting it again as I havent vcisited it completely and t that time ill be sharing a best vlog and a reel too.
The only reason for writing about my experiences is that we all Indians should be proud of being an Indian and having all such amazing heritage sites and also should take some initiatives to conserve them, take care of them and just spread the rich culture and the history of our India.
so I hope you all liked this one and keep reading and supporting and spreading our dharma. Jai Hind!
Very nice ✨ representing our culture and monuments in such a beautiful way ✨
